Live Like Frankie...
is a way of life taught to us by our son, Frankie Spencer Berko. It means to create connection with all people through loving kindness in an effort to make the world a better place than we found it. In that vein, Live Like Frankie raises funds for two organizations and counting.
Frankie left his earthly body at ten years old on September 12, 2019, but we continue to feel his giving energy fuel us to help families like ours. It took 4 years after Frankie passed and our oldest child having a cardiac arrest to learn our family has a rare, deadly, genetic heart condition called Catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia (CPVT). With the help of the SADS Foundation (Sudden Arrhythmia Death Syndromes), we received a full education of our condition. We learned that SADS funds research, awareness, family support, and medical education. Today, SADS is helping us ensure Frankie’s memory and spirit of giving live on; that's why we raise and donate funds for this outstanding foundation working toward a cure for genetic heart conditions like ours.
Frankie's happy place was always summer sleep-away camp at Greene Family Camp. He found connection and pure joy in what he called, "The happiest place on earth". He would never be able to accept a child could miss a summer at camp due to financial strain and/or a medical condition. For that reason, Live Like Frankie also raises money for a scholarship fund we created through the camp.
Live Like Frankie carries on Frankie's work of repairing the world through empathy and connection.
